Large-file transfer

Files too big to email, sent safely.

Send someone a couple of gigabytes without a shared drive or a zip file in three parts. The recipient needs no Curfew account: they get a link, a one-time code and, if you want, a passphrase. Set an expiry and a download limit. Files up to 200 MB are checked for malware before anyone can download them; larger ones are not scanned. You can run it the other way too – request files FROM someone who has no account.

What you get

How it works

  1. 1

    Add the files

Up to about 2 GB, uploaded straight to private storage. Files up to 200 MB are checked for malware before anyone can download them.

  2. 2

    Say who gets them

An email address or an @handle. Add a passphrase on top if the contents deserve one.

  3. 3

    Send, and watch it land

They get a link and a one-time passcode. Set an expiry and a download limit, and revoke the whole thing at any point.

Files far bigger than email will carry, behind a link that expires and a passcode.

Common questions

How big can a file be?

About 2 GB per file. It goes straight from the browser to storage rather than through us.

Can I ask somebody to send ME a file?

Yes — a request works the same way in reverse. The counterparty uploads through the same gated link without needing an account.

What happens to an infected file?

It is kept but never downloadable, and it says so. Hiding it would remove the evidence that somebody sent it.

What happens when a transfer expires?

The link stops working, and the files themselves are deleted — a job runs nightly and removes the stored bytes rather than just hiding the door. An expiry that only turned the link off would leave the document sitting on our disks forever.

Use it on its own for as long as you like. If you ever add another, it shares the same login, the same bill and the same data underneath.
